Let’s Talk WSOP

June 9th, 2006

I have been seeing an increasing number of visitors looking for WSOP information. Things are definitely reving up this year and I’m pretty sure that it’s no secret that this year’s World Series of Poker promises to be the biggest one yet. If you look at the past wsop champions, you see a few names that are still around. Doyle Brunson is the obvious standout, along with Johnny Chan. These two guys have been in the poker world for a very long time.

It’s interesting to see a lot of the other names, as well. Phil Helmuth is a huge player in the poker world and he actively promotes Ultimatebet, one of the internet’s largest online card rooms. Dan Harrington, Chris Ferguson, and Scotty Nguyen are also huge players in the Poker world.

Million Dollar Freeroll

June 7th, 2006

Well, it’s getting to be that time again. Paradisepoker is starting up for it’s Million Dollar Poker Freeroll! This promotion is crazy, by the way. I know some of you were around this time last year, but for those who weren’t, The Million Bucks from last year’s poker tournament was won by a Navy Ensign stationed in Hawaii. I’m not sure who won the freeroll poker tournament the year before that but I know damn well that I am trying for it this year.

The promotion is fairly straight forward. There is no direct entry into the poker tournament, you must win your way in. There are daily “heats” at Paradisepoker were players can win a seat to this incredible poker tournament. Each player is allowed one free entry into one of these heats. The times are as follows:

  • 4pm ET = Top 6 players advance to $1,000,000 main event.
  • 9pm ET = Top 9 players advance to $1,000,000 main event.
  • 1am ET = Top 15 players advance to $1,000,000 main event.
    1. * 9pm, 2am, 6am London time

Registration for these poker qualifiers starts two hours prior to tournament start time. I would highly suggest getting a seat in one of these tournaments. Oh yeah, just a reminder, it’s FREE to enter. Seriously, what do you have to lose.

If you want more than one entry, you can win more by depositing real money at paradise poker and earning points.

Building a Bankroll

June 5th, 2006

This is a question that many poker players think of, but few fail to ask. A friend of mine asked this question at our Monday night game and it reminded me of an article that I had written some time ago. When looking at Building A Bankroll one must consider a few things. How much are you willing to lose? How much are you willing to go “without” in order sustain your bankroll? And lastly, what type of player are you?

The answer is, there is no definite answer for everyone. Each player is different. Each player must decide for themselves what the appropriate amount is. In my article, I’ve laid down a few basic ground rules that I believe apply to everyone.

Choosing the right online poker site

June 5th, 2006

When it comes to choosing the right place to play poker, especially for real money, how does one sift through all of the Online Poker Sites out there? That’s where poker portals like this one really come in handy.

You see, guys like me are very passionate about poker. We are downright obsessed with it! I have spent countless hours playing at every online poker room under the sun and you can benefit from my experience. I’ve played at the most popular rooms, like Full Tilt Poker and Party Poker. Lately, however, I’ve been scouring the web for those unknown poker sites.

One such site is Pitbull Poker. This online poker site uses a flash interface which provides fast graphics and even more imporantly, there is no download required. Pitbull Poker is a brand new online poker room, trying to carve out a niche in this huge industry. In my opinion, Pitbull Poker is a site that is going to make it big! Look for more promotions in the future from Poker30.net concerning this online poker site.

Pocket Kings

June 1st, 2006

I was playing some online poker again tonight. I found some cool rooms at this Internet Poker website. They have a few rooms that we haven’t reviewed yet. I was very please with this poker portal’s layout and decided to take a further look. They have an extensive section on poker strategy, the history of poker, as well as poker articles.

Anyway, so I found an online poker room that I liked and played in a tournament that I found going on over there. I was dealt the best hand of the night, followed by the worst hand of the night, and they were both pocket kings.

First hand: Dealt pocket Kings. A raise from one person, followed by a re-raise from another. I go all-in and one of the raisers call me with K-Q suited. Flop comes with no possibility of any help for him and I soon double up.

Second hand: Dealt pocket Kings. A bet, followed by a raise and I, of course, go all-in. This time, the guy next to me turns over pocket aces and I’m the one looking for a draw. No help comes and I’m out of money!

Even though it was a losing night, I still think it was a good night at the online poker tables.

May 25th, 2006

Well, Pokerstars dealt it’s 5 billionth hand the other day and it was not without quite a bit of fan fare. Everyone at the table where the 5 billionth hand was seated instantly won $10,000! The winner of the hand, MaraJade, won $50,000 plus an extra $7,500 for being a SilverStar VIP club member. The pocket cards, K-10 off.

Congratulations are in order to MaraJade and the others who were seated at this table at Pokerstars when the 5,000,000,000 hand was dealt.
